ACCU-fluor ST LED Illuminator for Stereos

ACCU-fluor ST LED Illuminator for Stereos

See the Whole Picture — In Fluorescence

The ACCU-fluor ST brings affordable, high-performance LED fluorescence illumination to stereo microscopes with a parallel (Galilean/Common Main Objective) optical design. Purpose-built for organismal-scale biology, the ACCU-fluor ST lets you visualize fluorescently-labeled whole organisms, embryos, and tissues — without the complexity or cost of a traditional fluorescence system.

Overview

ACCU-fluor ST LED fluorescence illuminators are an easy and economical way to add fluorescence capability to your stereo microscope. Where conventional fluorescence microscopy is designed around thin sections mounted on glass slides, the ACCU-fluor ST is designed for the larger, three-dimensional specimens that stereo microscopes are built to explore — intact embryos, whole-mount preparations, small organisms, and dissected tissues.

Designed specifically for stereo microscopes utilizing a parallel (Galilean) optical design, also known as a Common Main Objective (CMO) configuration, the ACCU-fluor ST delivers simultaneous, matched illumination through both optical paths for a true, undistorted stereo fluorescence image.

We offer dual and triple-channel illuminators (including UV, blue, green, and yellow excitation) to support the most common fluorophores used in model organism research. ACCU-fluor ST illuminators fit the UNITRON Z10 series stereo microscopes and most major brands of CMO/Galilean stereo microscopes.

KEY FEATURES

Built for Stereo Microscopy — Not an Afterthought

Stereo microscopes feature two independent optical paths that converge on a single objective, giving the viewer a true three-dimensional perspective. The ACCU-fluor ST is engineered to deliver uniform fluorescence excitation across the full field of view through both optical paths simultaneously — so what you see in each eyepiece is bright, consistent, and coaligned.

Important: ACCU-fluor ST is compatible only with stereo microscopes using a parallel (Galilean) or Common Main Objective (CMO) optical design. It is not compatible with Greenough-style stereo microscopes, which use two separate, angled objective lenses. If you are unsure of your microscope’s optical design, please contact us — we’re happy to help you confirm compatibility.

Space-Saving and Economical

Bench space is precious, and the ACCU-fluor ST doesn’t require any more room than your existing microscope. It installs cleanly into your stereo microscope’s illumination port with no fiber optic light guides, external control boxes, or separate power supplies — only a power cord. With built-in LEDs and fluorescence filter sets included, you can save thousands of dollars compared to traditional fluorescence illumination systems.

Safe and Convenient

ACCU-fluor ST LED illuminators feature built-in LEDs that never need alignment and are rated for years of use. The front panel displays the intensity of the active fluorescence channel and includes a per-channel memory function to retain your preferred intensity setting. Models with Violet LEDs include a UV safety shield as standard. ACCU-fluor ST is also completely MERCURY-FREE!

Designed for simplicity and ease-of-use, one knob allows the user to change both the light source (LED) and the filter set.

Ideal for Organismal-Scale Fluorescence Studies

Stereo microscope fluorescence is the method of choice when you need to observe fluorescent signals across an entire organism or large tissue sample — structures and patterns that would be impossible to capture in a single field of view on a compound microscope. The ACCU-fluor ST is well suited for:

  • Drosophila (fruit fly) embryos and larvae — GFP/RFP reporter lines, antibody staining, in situ hybridization
  • Zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos and larvae — whole-mount fluorescence, transgenic reporter lines, live imaging of development
  • C. elegans (roundworm) — GFP fusion proteins, neuronal labeling, developmental biology
  • Xenopus (frog) embryos — whole-mount immunostaining, microinjection reporter assays
  • Mouse and other vertebrate embryos — whole-mount fluorescent antibody staining, reporter lines
  • Plant tissues and seedlings — GFP transformants, root and shoot fluorescence imaging
  • Dissected tissues and organs — fluorescence-guided dissection, gross anatomical mapping of expression patterns

Wide Variety of Fluorophore Support

With an assortment of LED and filter combinations, ACCU-fluor ST illuminators cover the most commonly used fluorophores in model organism and developmental biology research.

Easy Set-Up

The ACCU-fluor ST is designed for a straightforward installation. When you order, ACCU-SCOPE installs the correct mounting hardware for your specific stereo microscope model. Installation is simple: attach the illuminator to the microscope body according to the included instructions, plug it in, and you are ready for fluorescence observations.

A Note on Stereo Microscope Optical Designs

Stereo microscopes come in two principal optical designs:

Parallel (Common Main Objective / Galilean) design: Both optical paths pass through a single, shared objective lens. This design is favored in research settings for its larger field of view, superior optics, and compatibility with accessory illuminators like the ACCU-fluor ST. The ACCU-fluor ST is designed for this type.

Greenough design: Each optical path uses its own separate, slightly angled objective lens. This is a common, economical design used in many educational and industrial stereo microscopes. The ACCU-fluor ST is not compatible with Greenough-design stereo microscopes.

If you are unsure which design your microscope uses, the easiest indicator is whether the microscope has a single large objective at the bottom (CMO) or two smaller lenses angled inward (Greenough). Our team is happy to help you identify your microscope’s optical design.
